From Kuantan, drive north for about 2 hours, passing through the oil town of Kerteh, Paka and Dungun. From Dungun town, head further north for another 5 minutes. You should be passing over the Dungun river bridge. After the bridge, look out for sign into Teluk Bidara recreational area.
I ran into this lovely beach by chance. I have seen the sign board showing the direction to Teluk Bidara so many times, but I couldn't be bothered previously. What a pleasant surprise when I finally visit this place!
I would have to say that this is probably the best beach in the East Coast's mainland. I was greeted with a turquoise-blue ocean. The water at this beach is crystal-clear. There is a lanai-style gazebo where one could climb up for a better view of the lovely ocean.
Far ahead I could see the islands of Pulau Tenggol and Pulau Nyireh, famous for prolific their dive sites. During my visit, the water is clean and calm enough for a swim.
I highly recommend this beach for everyone, especially if you are staying nearby at the luxurious establishment of Tanjung Jara Resort.
Probably the best beach you have seen along the east coast mainland.
